CCF Enterprise Visit｜About Dongguan Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing Limited&May Cheong Group-Dongguan Maisto Industries Limited
Explore the new face of the toy model car industry and the modern paper-making industry.
The CCF Greater Bay Area themed “Visiting Manufacturing Enterprises in Dongguan” event was successfully held on May 16th. Over 80 participants and mentors from the Strive and Rise Programme, representing five operating organizations—New Home Association, Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association, Sheng Kung Hui, Po Leung Kuk, and Lok Kwan Social Service—visited Dong Guan Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing Limited and Dong Guan Maisto Industries Limited for an exploration.
That morning, we first visited Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing Limited. The staff enthusiastically guided the students through the company, providing a detailed explanation of the entire papermaking process—from raw material procurement and production to processing and sales. Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing primarily uses wood, bamboo, and recycled paper as raw materials. Through advanced automated technology to separate plant fibers, followed by precise processes such as pressing for dewatering and cylinder drying, it produces high-quality pulp products that are sold worldwide. The entire production line is monitored by a smart system, making it extremely efficient. The speed at which paper is produced each minute amazed the students, and when they saw the towering mountains of paper rolls, they couldn’t help but marvel at the power of modern industry.
Company colleagues patiently answered various questions from the students. Everyone actively thought and asked questions, with one student wondering whether the traditional paper industry would gradually decline with the rapid development of artificial intelligence. In response, Administrative Manager Mr. Lee Chun Wai provided a professional answer: the paper industry is not a sunset industry. Paper is inseparable from people’s daily lives; whether it’s toilet paper, packaging paper, or various industrial papers, they are all indispensable consumer goods. As long as market demand exists, the paper industry will continue to develop. At the same time, the industry is constantly transforming and upgrading towards intelligent and green environmental protection, and future production models will be more efficient and cleaner, integrating into people’s lives. This visit allowed students to step outside the classroom and experience firsthand the development achievements and technological strength of the Greater Bay Area’s advanced manufacturing industry. They not only gained a deeper understanding of the professional knowledge and complete industrial chain operation model of the paper industry, but also appreciated the important relationship between technological innovation and green development, gaining valuable experiences and knowledge beyond the textbook.
That afternoon, the students visited Maisto Industries Limited for a fascinating company tour, gaining a deeper understanding of what lifelike toy cars are. Company colleagues led the students on a tour of various scaled-down lifelike car models, their exquisite details and high degree of realism captivating the audience. Afterwards, they entered the production workshop, where colleagues explained the complete production process in detail. The company utilizes advanced automated equipment to intelligently complete precise processes such as mold making, parts injection molding, and automatic spray painting; subsequently, workers meticulously assemble the finished products, rigorously monitoring the quality of each item to ensure safe and high-quality manufacturing.
Colleagues led the students on a tour of the Chang’e series lunar rover and the Tianwen-1 Mars rover models. The students were captivated, constantly asking questions about the research and development details of the aerospace models. Facing the advanced automated production line, the students were completely absorbed, carefully observing every step, actively asking questions and engaging in discussions, gaining a wealth of knowledge from the hands-on experience.
After touring the exhibits and production process, the company’s history museum allowed students to understand the development of Hong Kong’s toy industry. Following this, Mr. Ngan Chi Wing, Vice Chairman of CCF and CEO of May Cheong Group, shared career development paths and future trends in the simulated car industry. He mentioned that companies will introduce more automation technology in the future, eliminating the tedious process of on-site measurement and hand-drawn sketches, significantly improving production efficiency. During the interactive session, a student asked whether automation would replace manual labor in the industry. Mr. Ngan Chi Wing provided a professional response: while production processes are gradually becoming more intelligent, professional designers cannot be replaced by machines; professional modeling and design remain the core of the company, providing students with clear career insights.
