【Centum Charitas Foundation’s “Chongqing: Past and Present Through the War of Resistance” 】A Briefing Session
“Chongqing: Past and Present Through the War of Resistance” held briefing on March 21st at Hong Kong Scout Association. Organized by Centum Charitas Foundation and funded by Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Youth Development Commission of the HKSAR, the five day, four-night exchange journey will take place from 6th to 10th March, includes 50 participants.
The briefing session introduced students to the key itinerary of the exchage journey, including visits to famous attractions such as the Three Gorges Museum, Minzhucun Community, Xiejiawan Subdistrict, and Atomic Bomb Dome, allowing students to explore the history and culture of Chongqing; a visit to the Chongqing Liaison Unit of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, helping them understand the national context and build national identity; and a visit to Chongqing Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing Limited, learning about modern paper production operations and large-scale enterprise management, broadening their horizons in advanced manufacturing. The exchage journey also included interactions with Chongqing secondary school students and community members, enhancing understanding of the cultures and lives of residents in both regions and cultivating an attitude of inclusivity and respect among the students.
During the briefing, participants actively engaged in ice-breaking games and used interactive worksheets to communicate and ask questions, quickly breaking down barriers and unfamiliarity. The process also helped everyone learn about the youngest member of each group and the interests of each individual, effectively fostering camaraderie and teamwork. Participants and accompanying instructors listened attentively to the exchange journey’s preparations, safety precautions, and the latest travel information, including the prohibition of carrying power banks without 3C certification or with unclear labeling on domestic flights within China, limits on the number of lithium batteries that can be carried, and the latest regulations on liquids. The instructor in charge of the tour explained in detail the requirements and topics for the presentation upon returning to Hong Kong, ensuring that every participant was well-prepared.
The session also featured a talk by Mr. Fan Chun Wah, Honorary Advisers of the Centum Charitas Foundation, who discussed the relationship between “One Country, Two Systems”—the Basic Law, the National Security Law, and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance—helping young people understand the intrinsic connections between national laws and systems and deepening their understanding of national security and the rule of law. This aimed to guide students in establishing a correct view of national security and enhancing their national consciousness, cultivating them into responsible and sensible young people of Hong Kong in the new era.
