The 15th Council Members of Centum Charitas Foundation (CCF) Inauguration Ceremony cum Gala Dinner was successfully held on January 29, 2024 (Monday) at Four Seasons Hotel, Hong Kong. We were honoured to have invited Mr John LEE Ka Chiu, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, to preside over the ceremony. We had invited various senior officials of the HKSAR Government, Hong Kong delegates to the National People’s Congress, Hong Kong delegates to the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), members of the Executive Council and Legislative Council, as well as prominent representatives from various sectors of the community to attend the ceremony. With warm congratulations from the guests, the 15th Council Members of CCF was inaugurated and Dr Peter LEE Ka Kit, GBS, JP, CPPCC and Chairman of Henderson Land Group, was re-appointed as the Chairman of the CCF.
Dr Peter LEE Ka Kit, had been reappointed as the Chairman and will continue to focus on the future development of Hong Kong’s youth. In the past, we have been deeply committed to youth work and helping the underprivileged groups and alleviating hardship. We had assisted young people to grow through different kind of progammes, including the “Youth Empowerment Sharing Session”, the “AI Coding Education Programme”, the “beANGEL action”, the “Strive and Rise Programme”, as well as industry exploration, exchanges and internships programme, with over 170,000 beneficiaries in total. Early last year, we conducted an evaluation of the AI coding programme together with the Hong Kong Primary Education Research Association, and based on nearly 2,000 questionnaires and focus group interviews with students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders, we summarised eight recommendations for strengthening AI coding education in primary schools. These recommendations were submitted to the HKSAR Government and related stakeholders.
Mr John LEE Ka Chiu, the Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government, acknowledged the work of the CCF during his speech. CCF has been committed to promoting youth development and organising a wide range of activities to groom youth and cultivate their personal character to give back to the community. In recent years, CCF has committed to artificial intelligence and programming education to encourage youth to develop their creative thinking. The HKSAR Government is committed fully to supporting youth development by implementing the 160 actions and measures of the “Youth Development Blueprint”, providing comprehensive support for young people’s development in the areas of education, employment, business start-up and home ownership, and providing a platform to support young people’s entrepreneurship. The HKSAR government will continue to work hand-in-hand with CCF to empower young people to be contributors to Hong Kong and the country in the new era.
