Our China’s cultural youth exchange program “China Chic “ “Wuhan, Xiangyang, Hubei Cultural Trip” was successfully held from 1st to 5th April, 2024.
Start from the first day of the trip, our group of 45 students and teachers in total from Buddhist Hung Sean Chau Memorial College and San Wui Commercial Society Secondary School gathered pleasantly at the High-Speed Rail West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong and take the high-speed rail to Wuhan, Hubei, China. Upon arrival, the group first visited “The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s Economic and Trade Office”, where the group were welcomed and briefed by the Hong Kong commissioner who stationed in Wuhan. During the sharing, the students had a great understanding of China’s current situations and cultural differences between Hong Kong and China Mainland. They also learned and got inspired about what the business opportunities supports will be provided if they start their careers/ business in Hubei, Hu’nan, Shanxi, Jiangxi, and He’nan.
Another highlight of the trip was the students had visited one of the largest e–sports training bases in China, which arranged by our vice-chairlady Miss Alice Ho. Since the e-sports is still not very popular in Hong Kong, the students had broadened their eye sights and also learnt more about the burgeoning e–sports industry.
We also visited Xiangyang city, where our students had the opportunity to interact and built the friendships with the local students from Xiangyang No. 4 Secondary School. They walked around the school campus and had dinner happily together.
The group also visited many Xiangyang’s attraction spots such as Science and Technology Museum, Ancient City Wall, Tang Town, Migong Temple, Xijia Park, and Gu Long Zhong. They also enjoyed dressing Hanfu and taking photos together to experience the ancient culture of China.
The group had visited the famous Yellow Crane Tower in the evening of the 4th day of the trip, where poems about the tower resonated with the students, prompting them to reflect on the vicissitudes in history, and foster a deeper appreciation for the presence. On the fifth day of the trip before returning to Hong Kong, the group had visited the Wuhan Planning Exhibition Hall, showcasing China‘s commitment to leverage innovative technology to develop a smart city capable of addressing climate change and preserving our cultural monuments.
Our China’s cultural youth exchange program has provided Hong Kong students with a more profound understanding of development in China, which is one of the important parts of youth works in Hong Kong. The program could be completed, we have to special thanks to the generous support by HKSAR Home and Youth Affairs Bureau – “Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland”. We also need to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the committee members of Hong Kong Xiangyang Fraternity and Xiangyang United Front Work Department for their hospitality and coordination, as well as to our schools’ teachers for their onsite supports and assistances.
